This is our HYDRUMP endo motor with LED, made for endodontic root canal work. We built the light in on purpose because the root orifice is deep and dark, and when you cannot see clearly you risk missing a canal. The LED shines straight down from the tip, so you see the orifice and the file tip without the nurse holding a separate light.

A dentist in Athens tested an early batch and told us his old endo motor left him hunting the canal opening with a mirror. A molar with three canals used to take him around twenty five minutes; with the LED on he spots the opening at once and it takes about fourteen. He also likes the soft start, because the file does not jump the moment the motor kicks in, so it does not break. That is why we kept the LED and the soft start.

The motor holds six memory programs, so you set the speed and torque for each file system once and recall it when you need it. It runs on a 3.7Vdc 800mAh battery, weighs about 210 g, and draws AC 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz. The contra angle is 16:1 and reciprocating. When the file hits too much load it auto-reverses and stops so it never locks in the canal, and the soft start and soft stop build torque slowly with no sudden jerk. The contra angle and lamp holder sterilize at 135 degrees, and the unit uses an internal power supply with a type B applied part.

On the first lot the LED grew a little weak after six months. We changed the LED bead and now run two hundred hours of continuous running before production, and the light stays bright.

This machine fits root canal preparation and retreatment in a general clinic. For surgical implant work you need the implant motor instead. It comes as the host, the charging dock, two lamp holders, the power adapter, the motor cover, the product specification and the product certificate.
