This is our HYDRUMP dental x-ray digital sensor, made in two models called VX-R1 and VX-R2. You plug it into the computer and the picture appears right away, so there is no film and no dark room.

We kept the install to a single click on purpose. Most clinic nurses are not computer engineers, so a long installer leaves them stuck. You just open the file and it does the rest, and the clinic starts taking images the same day the box arrives.

A clinic owner in Bogota tested an early batch and told us that before going digital he used x-ray film, which had to walk to the dark room. A patient with four problem teeth would wait around twenty five minutes for the film. With this sensor the image shows on screen in about two minutes, and the patient can look at it with him. That is why we kept the one-click install and the instant imaging.

R1 is the smaller size for the anterior teeth, and R2 is slightly larger and sits better behind the molars, so you pick according to what your clinic treats. The sensor is built from metal and plastic and runs straight from the USB port, so there is no separate power brick. Imaging is high definition and instantaneous. The cable stays soft rather than stiff, so it does not pull at the patient's mouth. It carries a one year warranty.

In the first lot the sensor would occasionally miss the very first image after you plugged it in. We changed the driver chip and now run five thousand plug-in cycles on each lot, and the first image now appears on the first try.

This sensor works with any portable or wall mounted x-ray machine that takes the matching cable. For a panoramic film you would need a larger sensor. It comes as the sensor, either VX-R1 or VX-R2, plus the software CD, the USB cable, a pack of sterilization sleeves and the operation manual.
